  • Weight – Approximately 15 pounds Pastillage
  • Length – Approximately 20 inches (base)
  • Width –  14 inches (base); 6 inches (structure)
  • Height – 36  inches
  • Production Time – Approximately 50 hours spread out over 8 days
  • Note – The various details are made from Chocolate and Marzipan. The gold parts are painted with a mixture of gold dust and vodka.  The “wooden” parts are brushed with cocoa powder, and airbrushed with food coloring. If you look carefully, you can see that there are pink marzipan roses in the center of each level. I built each level separately, and then stacked them together. As I was building the different levels, I had the idea to put something in the middle as a little surprise for people who happened to look inside of the pagoda. The dragon on the front is a marzipan cut out made with a vegetable cutter I found in a hole in the wall shop in China Town San Francisco.

Song stuck in my head at the time of this post: I Get a Kick Outta You by Frank Sinatra
